As staff return to campus and libraries are once more staffed daily, it is going to be possible to provide more face-to-face assistance.

However, throughout lockdown library staff have continued to work behind the scenes. Either from home or on campus, to assist staff and students, keeping many of our essential services running.

For example:

On campus staff have been processing requests for the Click and Collect service, putting returned books into quarantine for 72 hours then reshelving, assisting with Lapsafe and MFDs, handing out Widening Participation laptops, and of course we have been replenishing stocks at our sanitizing stations.

We have managed to provide print books to students and staff using the Click and Collect and postal loans services. To support you during this difficult time, we suspended all fines for active users and extended automatic renewals.

Subject librarians have increased the number of electronic books available. The inter library loans service has provided hundreds of electronic articles and book chapters.

We have provided support through phone and email enquiries and through our social media platforms.

Although book browsing is due to resume on 26th April, Click and Collect and postal loans services will remain in place. And for those who don’t feel they want to come onto campus or can’t manage to, phone and email support will continue.

We hope we have helped as many of you as we could during this challenging period. If there is something we could improve on, then please contact us with your Feedback here.

We look forward to seeing you back on campus!
