Our Merchiston Campus is built around the historic 16th-century birthplace and home of our very own John Napier. It’s home to three schools, The School of Computing, The School of Arts & Creative Industries and The School of Engineering & The Built Environment.

The history of Merchiston Tower (or Castle), which our campus is built around, dates back to the 1400s. An ancestral home for Clan Napier, it was built around 1454. The Castle changed hands and was sold a number of times before restoration work began in 1958 and it eventually became the centre of Edinburgh Napier University Merchiston Campus.

Merchiston Campus sits in the neighbourhood of Bruntsfield, with lots of Edinburgh landmarks and places of interest nearby. Below is just a sample of some of the books in our collection about Edinburgh. To borrow, please utilise our Click & Collect service.
