Last week (30 April), OneHEmindsets and the Scottish Academic Libraries Cooperative Training Group (SALCTG) hosted an online research showcase with Library and Information Science (LIS) research students as speakers. The students were:
- Drew Feeney, from Edinburgh Napier University, speaking about his PhD research into developing user-led digital literacies in older adults within Scottish public libraries
- Gbenga Adetunla, from Strathclyde University, speaking about his PhD research into developing a sustainable strategy for improving digital skills of university library professionals in Nigeria on automated library operation
- Palika Vithana, from Robert Gordon University, speaking about her PhD research into acceptance by users of mobile augmented reality applications for academic library services
- Benjamin Holder, from Strathclyde University, taking about his Masters research into the impact of reading and meditation on mental health.
The aims of the event were (1) to enable research students to talk about their research to representatives of library communities; (2) for attendees to gain insight into current research and emerging topics of interest from the LIS research community.
The event was introduced by Amina Shah, National Librarian of Scotland, and hosted by Konstantina Martzoukou from Robert Gordon University.
