Having taught psychology previously in the further education sector, my research interests focus on learning and teaching in the discipline of psychology, especially in the context of the pre-university sectors and transitions from school or college to university-level study. I am actively involved in supporting psychology education in Scotland and at European level, as a committee member of both the BPS Scottish Branch and BPS Standing Committee on Pre-tertiary Education, as well as the Association for the Teaching of Psychology (the UK psychology teachers’ association). I am a co-author of a core textbook for SQA Higher Psychology (Williamson, Cardwell & Flanagan, 2007).
