Thinking of doing some research this summer?
If you’re thinking of doing some research over the summer, we’ve got some great resources to help you. Have you seen our Decision Tree? This is a step by step look at key stages through the process of doing research. It starts by asking the questions you need to consider right from the start of your research. You may not have the answers yet but there are links to more detailed information to help you. The Decision Tree is a great resource to dip into when you need a reminder about the next stage in the open access process. There are also checklists for each of the major steps, at the times when you need to stop and make sure you’ve done everything before moving on to the next phase of the process.
Another page on the Open Access blog that you might find really useful is the Offset APC page. This is a new, fast changing area where publishers are offering discounted or free Article Processing Charges. We’ve made the information available for you to check if there’s a deal available for the publisher of your target journal.
Ready to publish your article? Remember to Act on acceptance. This is essential if you want your work to be eligible for the next Research Excellence Framework (REF). HEFCE’s rules change twice in 12 months so as soon as you find out your work has been accepted, deposit it in the Repository and send the evidence of acceptance to repository@napier.ac.uk
