A new ‘OA for books’ tool has been launched to help authors and universities check publishers’ open access policies for books. This will also help show whether a publisher supports compliance with UKRI’s open access policy for monographs, edited collections and book chapters.

All longform research outputs that acknowledge funding from UKRI or any of its councils must be free to view and download via an online publication platform, publisher’s website, or institutional or subject repository within a maximum of 12 months of publication. At Napier, we will generally support authors to use the repository route to open access.
