Fiona O’Donnell, a PhD researcher from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, is spending the summer with us as a visiting researcher. The topic is the influence of knots on the structural properties of cross laminated timber comprised of traditionally underutilized species through computational modeling and experimental testing. Fiona is working on Eastern hemlock back home, and now working on some archive data we have on UK-grown spruce.
