Recording your research data in Worktribe
Researchers at Edinburgh Napier University produce a large amount of research data, much of which can be added to Worktribe and made public. We encourage all research-active staff to record your data in Worktribe as research outputs in their own right, which can in turn be linked to publications.
For datasets which have been published elsewhere – such as in a specialist data repository, or Zenodo – you can add the URL of the data location to your Worktribe publication outputs. The simplest way to do this for outputs which are already in the repository is to go to an Output’s comments tab, add the URL and mention ‘@Library’ so that the repository team sees the message. We’ll make sure the URL is added in the correct place.
When you are adding a new output to Worktribe, please use the Notes field (see screenshot below) to enter the URL or DOI associated with any data repository relating to your paper. (Note that depending on the method you use to upload the paper, you might also see a Data Location URL field – you can also enter the DOI here, but it is not always visible depending on the method used to access the record.)
We’ve also created a short video explaining how to record your research data in Worktribe.
As always, contact repository@napier.ac.uk with any questions.
