Open access support from the League of European Research Universities
The League of European Research Universities (LERU) have released a statement in support of open access and are asking for support from universities, libraries, researchers, funders etc. across Europe. LERU report that the statement is supported by the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas and the incoming Presidency of the EU – open access will be priority during the Dutch EU Presidency from January – June 2016.
LERU are asking for signatories to support their statement “Moving forward on open access” , 112 individuals and organisations have done so to date. You can also read their blog post ‘Christmas is over. Research funding should go to research, not to publishers’ and there’s even a twitter hashtag #christmasisover if you want to follow what’s happening around this on social media.
