The Monographs and Open Access Project published its report on monographs and arts, humanities and social sciences, considering how they fit with developments in open access. This report was commissioned by HEFCE, Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). The Main Report and five associated Annexes are available to download from the HEFCE website.

The main findings of the report discussed the short and long term advantages of open access monograph publishing and points out that policies will need to be flexible when developing open access policies and models for monographs. Extensive consultation with research funders will be essential in this process.
