We welcomed our new PhD cohort to Edinburgh Napier and Merchiston campus with a lunch event where they could meet and chat to each other and get to know members of our Research Degrees team and academics.
In part two of our event, the winners of the SCEBE Postgraduate Research Student Best Paper Competition 2024 were announced. The competition was open to all postgraduate research students across all five subject groups and the judges were incredibly impressed with the standard of all the submissions.
There can only be a few winners though and for this year’s competition, the successful submissions were:
1st prize – Kubra Duran “GenTwin: Generative AI-powered Digital Twinning for Adaptive Management in IoT Networks”

2nd prize – Richard Wallace “Numerical Investigations into the Comparison of Hydrogen and Gas Mixtures Storage within Salt Caverns”

Joint 3rd prize – Kirsty Montague “A Hierarchical Approach to Evolving Behaviour-Trees for Swarm Control”

Joint 3rd prize – Shahbaz Khan “Chaotic Quantum Encryption to Secure Image Data in Post Quantum Consumer Technology”
