Research Excellence Framework 2021 Results
In March 2021, the University made its submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF2021).
The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions (HEIs). The assessment measures the quality of academic output alongside its impact on the economy, society, public policy, culture, and quality of life. It is a recognised indicator of research quality and the distribution of public funds for research.
The REF 2021 results will be released in May 2022 according to the following schedule:
- 9 and 10 May 2022: REF2021 results will released to HEIs under embargo
- 11 May 2022: REF2021 results will be released to the press under embargo
- 12 May 2022: All results will be made publicly available
This milestone represents the end of a seven-year cycle of preparation, comprising a submission of over 600 outputs, 30 impact case studies and more than 250 staff.
Vice Principal’s View – Communicating the REF Results
This is a reminder to all staff that Professor Nick Antonopoulos (Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice Principal of Research & Innovation) will be running a Vice Principal’s View session at 11am on Friday 13 May.
Professor Antonopoulos will be talking about the REF results, celebrating our achievements from REF, as well as highlighting many other recent research successes and looking towards the ambitious future for research and innovation at Edinburgh Napier University.
A meeting invite was sent on 2nd May which will allow staff to attend the session if available.
