USEC2017: Parallel Session speaker: Teresa Moore – Director of A Greener Festival

Teresa is a highly experienced speaker, writer and researcher on events and sustainability. She is the director of A Greener Festival, co-founder of the annual Green Events and Innovations (GEI) Conference in London and co-founder of the European sustainability think tank GO Europe.

Formerly head of Music and Event Management at Bucks New University, Teresa has undertaken many pieces of research into live music and events. Most recently she published the findings of a Live Music Census of Bristol, UK (March 2016) with UK Music which highlighted the economic and social contribution of grassroots music venues to local economies and the problems small music venues are currently facing in the UK. Teresa presented the findings to the UK’s All Party Parliamentary Committee for Music in Westminster.

She has carried out a series of festival surveys looking at audience attitudes and behaviour in respect of environmental issues at music events and in 2013 she partnered with Eco Action Partnership (Isle of Wight Festival) and A Greener Festival to carry out research into camping and waste at festival sites. She has also worked with Julie’s Bicycle researching ‘Audience Travel to One Off Music Events’ (2009).

Teresa is an editor and contributor to the new Purple Guide for Event Organisers (2014). She is a co-author of ‘Learning in the Round Concepts and Contexts in Work Based Learning’ (2013).

She is currently undertaking a PhD in sustainability and event management.
