The third Ada Scotland Festival kicks off next week and runs till 28th  October 2022, celebrating women in tech.

The festival includes events for women and girls at all stages of their career. We’ve picked out the best events for students and women starting or developing their tech career and those interested in building new tech knowledge and skills.

Join the Scottish Government’s Digital team in an interactive workshop where you’ll hear about our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) roles and the important work they do on behalf of the people of Scotland.  You’ll have a chance to speak with some of DDaT specialists and to take part in an interactive discussion about assumptions, expectations and opportunities for women in tech.

Sensors are all around us. They are in automatic doors and supermarket tills, mobile phones and vehicles, gyms, hospitals and airports. Sensors detect aspects of the physical world and are used widely in lifestyle, fitness, healthcare, manufacturing and daily life.

Helen Sandison, an engineer at CENSIS, Scotland’s Innovation Centre for Sensors, Imaging and IoT (Internet of Things), introduces the basics of sensor devices, how they work and what they are used for, with case studies and interactive demos.
