Depictions of male creators are numerate in horror movies. Female creators are depicted less often but when they are it is often to subvert simplistic portrayals of villains- both male and female. These examples show how female creators on screen possess a complexity that surpasses her male counterpart and returns the duality to this character while also challenging portrayals of female villains as sexualised ‘femme fatales’.
