Call for applications now in eight funding opportunities!

The Royal Society of Edinburgh has announced the next call for applications across the RSE Research Awards programme; providing distinct research funding opportunities for all academic disciplines across all career stages.
The RSE Research Awards programme is central to promoting and supporting Scotland’s academic researchers, nurturing promising talent, stimulating research in Scotland, and promoting international collaboration.
Open for applications are eight research funding opportunities:
RSE Small Research Grants
Designed to support personally conducted high-quality research. Awarding funding for up to 12 months to cover eligible costs arising from a defined research project. Read more >
RSE Research Workshops
A workshop is defined as “the coming together of scholars at the early stage of planning to develop collaborative research”. Designed to encourage collaborative investigation into a research proposition at an early stage of development. Read more >
RSE Research Networks
Consolidate collaborative partnerships and expand activities of existing research or initiate new projects. Partnerships may be defined by a collaboration between colleagues in different disciplines and institutions. Read more >
RSE Personal Research Fellowships
Funding for researchers to concentrate on a full-time research project of their choice. The Fellowship provides funding for the appointment of a temporary replacement, up to 12 months, to enable the awardee to take study leave, either in their own institution or elsewhere, whilst remaining in continuous employment with their present employer. Research costs are also included. Read more >
RSE International Joint Projects
Enabling international collaboration between researchers based in Scotland with researchers overseas is open to all countries and academic disciplines. Applications for two-year joint projects are invited from Scottish-based researchers to include an overseas Higher Education Institution, Research Institute or Cultural Institution of your choice. Funding is provided for researchers to cover travel, subsistence, and research expenses. Read more >
RSE Scotland Asia Partnerships Higher Education Research (SAPHIRE) Fund
The RSE SAPHIRE Fund, supported by the Scottish Government, is aimed at supporting the development of new, as well as enhancing existing international research partnerships between Scottish universities/research institutes and partners in Australia, India, Japan, Pakistan, South Korea, Singapore and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). RSE International Bilateral Visits
RSE International Bilateral Visits facilitate the collaboration between researchers from Scotland and those based in international institutions within countries with academies with which the RSE has a formal Memorandum of Understanding. Read more >
Ireland-Scotland Bilateral Network Grants
The ambition of the Ireland-Scotland Bilateral Network Grants is to strengthen cooperation and learning between excellent researchers, academics and practitioners in Scotland and Ireland within the five thematic areas identified within the 2021 Irish-Scottish Bilateral Review. Read more >
