Link to ECAS Website

Highlighting to you this great opportunity for our researchers to build up their international collaborations and make new connections.

Edinburgh Napier is one of 18 Scottish institutions and 21 Lower Saxonian institutions who are participating in the European Centre for Advanced Studies (ECAS) Tandem Fellowship Programme, with an aim to strengthen links between the Lower Saxony region, Germany and Scotland. The programme supports selected tandems of researchers from both regions to spend time abroad in order to work on a joint project.

ECAS has provided the following information regarding the Tandem Fellowship Programme:

Researchers who have completed their PhD within the last 10 years and have an employment contract with a Scottish or Lower Saxonian higher education institution can apply for the programme, which is an excellent opportunity to conduct research in a cross-national exchange at the most recognized higher education institutions in Lower Saxony and Scotland. The tandem concept foresees that two researchers from both regions form a tandem working on a joint project. Short-term stays up to six months in the partnership region are funded with 1.200 Euro per person per month.

Applications must be submitted by 31 August 2021. Please find attached the Open Call for Applications. Further information on the programme, the application procedure as well as the list of participating institutions (which is constantly being expanded) can be found at:

ECAS has also provided an online academic matching tool providing information on the different research fields of the 21 Lower Saxonian institutions. It is designed to facilitate the first steps in setting up an academic collaboration. If you wish for ECAS to introduce you to a particular institution, please contact them at contact@ecas-academia.org.
