We’re here – the fourth and final day of Cyber Scotland Week 2019! Our final daily topic is Data Safety. Yesterday we talked about the importance of protecting the information kept on mobile devices, but University staff and contractors have particular responsibilities when it comes to handling information used for work purposes.
As well as the sorts of information that any organisation would want to keep private – financial and research information, for example – the University is also responsible for large amounts of student and staff personal data. This information is crucial to the running of the University, so it’s also crucial that we know how to protect it properly. For our final set of guidance, we’ve presented material from our colleagues in Governance Services that will assist you with keeping University information safe.
Lastly, I’d like to thank you for participating in Cyber Scotland Week 2019 and my colleagues in Information Services for doing an excellent job of putting this content together. This is the first time we’ve tried doing something like this, so we’re really keen to hear your feedback on how it went. As always, if you have any questions about data safety – or any other aspect of Information Security – please get in touch. We look forward to welcoming you back in October, hopefully in person, for European Cyber Security Month!
