We’re looking forward to welcoming Dr Edemar Morsch Filho and Dr Mahbuba Jannat to give invited talks on Wednesday 11th February 12pm-2pm at Merchiston (room E14).
Speaker: Dr Mahbuba Jannat
Title: Engineering Education and Agricultural Waste Valorisation Research for Sustainable Growth and Energy Efficiency in Bangladesh
Abstract: This presentation introduces a short description of the engineering education system in Bangladesh, especially at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Besides engineering education programs, BUET also carried out extensive research across multidisciplinary fields for sustainable development. This talk will briefly present how BUET contributes to sustainable development growth through waste valorisation in Bangladesh. Besides waste valorisation, this talk will also discuss how energy efficiency can be improved through the development of a bio-composite of Phase Change Materials (PCM) within an international collaborative project supported by the Royal Society.
Short bio: Mahbuba Jannat is an Assistant Professor at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her academic background is in Chemical Engineering, and her research work focuses on agricultural waste valorisation; energy efficiency, with particular emphasis on Phase Change Materials (PCM); enzymatic process; and wastewater treatment.
Speaker: Dr Edemar Morsch Filho
UNESP: Engineering Education and Thermal Sciences Research in a Brazilian Public University
Abstract: This presentation introduces São Paulo State University (UNESP) within the Brazilian public higher education system, with a particular focus on the São João da Boa Vista campus. The engineering programs, its applied research activities, and regional impact will be presented. The talk also will briefly present research on Phase Change Materials (PCM) developed within an international collaborative project supported by the Royal Society, jointly carried out by UNESP, Napier University, and Bangladesh University, with focus on challenges in energy and thermal management.
Short bio: Edemar Morsch Filho is an Assistant Professor at São Paulo State University (UNESP), based at the São João da Boa Vista campus, Brazil. His academic background is in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, and his work focuses on heat transfer and energy efficiency, with particular emphasis on applied research in thermal sciences, including Phase Change Materials (PCM).
