They will be accompanied by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.napier.ac.uk\/people\/kenny-crossan\">Dr Kenny Crossan<\/a> (Deputy Head of International) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.napier.ac.uk\/people\/sibylle-ratz\">Dr Sibylle Ratz<\/a> (SAL for Postgraduate Articulation). The field trip is funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/scottish-education-exchange-programme-test-and-learn-project\/pages\/funding-information\/\">Scottish Education Exchange Programme<\/a> and organised in collaboration with our partner, <a href=\"https:\/\/binus.ac.id\/\">BINUS University<\/a> in Jakarta, Indonesia. The funding was awarded to a team of lecturers at the Business School, led by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.napier.ac.uk\/people\/nathalia-tjandra\"> Professor Nathalia Tjandra<\/a> (Head of International at the Business School), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.napier.ac.uk\/people\/sharyn-bennett\">Sharyn Bennett<\/a> (Head of the Global Mobility Team) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.napier.ac.uk\/people\/pauline-gordon\">Pauline Gordon<\/a> (Deputy Head of International at the Business School \u2013 Partnerships)<\/p>\n<p>The group departed from Edinburgh Airport on Friday, 10th January 2025 and will be returning from Jakarta Airport on Saturday 25th January 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The funding includes flights, accommodation, meals, tuition fees, and visa fees.<\/p>\n<p>The students were selected from a large number of applicants following a rigorous selection process, and all have demonstrated a deep interest in issues of sustainability. They represent all levels of study (including undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD studies) and various subjects (including Marketing Management, Marketing &amp; \u00a0Digital Media, International Festival &amp; Events Management, International Hospitality Management with Festival &amp; Events, International Tourism Destination Management, Law, International Business Management).<\/p>\n<p>Students will be hosted by BINUS University. The focus of the field trip will be on sustainability, and students will participate in workshops, industry visits, cultural activities, and excursions in Jakarta and Bandung.\u00a0 Students will specifically learn about sustainability issues in an emerging market, whilst immersing themselves in an intercultural experience. The group will spend the majority of their time in Jakarta, the current capital and largest city of Indonesia where they will be staying at the BINUS Hall of Residence. The field trip also includes a three-day visit to a BINUS campus in Bandung which is in the mountainous region of West Java. \u00a0Here they will visit companies specific to the region and also visit the Orchid Forest Cikolo.<\/p>\n<p>During their trip the group will visit the British Council office and meet representatives of the British Council and the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office to learn about their work abroad. They will also have the opportunity to network with alumni who studied at both Edinburgh Napier University and BINUS.<\/p>\n<p>The field trip will give students the unique opportunity to enhance their understanding of sustainability through direct observation of successful environmental and community practices in Indonesia.\u00a0Further learning objectives are to foster an appreciation for the cultural contexts that influence sustainability practices in an emerging country (Indonesia), and to offer hands-on experiences and interactions with local organisations in Indonesia, contributing to students&#8217; practical knowledge and problem-solving skills related to sustainability.\u00a0Finally, the field trip aims to expand students&#8217; awareness of global environmental issues and solutions, highlighting the interconnectedness of local and global sustainability efforts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eight students at The Business School have been selected to take part in a fully funded two-week field trip \u201cSustainability Exploration: A Journey to Indonesia\u201d.
