This week the Research and Innovation Managers for SEBE and SOC, Ian Anderson and Carol Johnstone, held a funding Workshop for staff within these schools. The External Funding Team

This team within RIO support the pre-award development of research proposal and should be the first point of contact when thinking about applying for research funding. They can support finding opportunities for research funding, deliver training and awareness sessions on school specific funding opportunities. They also can support you through the costing of projects, development of proposals, arrange peer-review and support you through the submission process – through the University research management system, Worktribe, and any funder submission systems.

Finding funding opportunities

The University subscribes to Research Professional. This is a funding opportunities database which offers researchers the opportunity to search for research funding in all disciplines from a wide range of sponsors in the UK and overseas. All funding information in the database is pre-screened for eligibility for UK researchers. The database features an easy-to-use interface and powerful searching and customisation tools that are designed to assist you in your search for research funding. To get the most out of this project you should set up a personal account where you can set up alerts around funding opportunities, sector news and research jobs. Once you have an account you will also received personalised funding opportunities from the Research fingerprinting service which are based on your research profile on the University website.
