{"id":389,"date":"2017-09-01T03:00:47","date_gmt":"2017-09-01T03:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/rio\/?p=389"},"modified":"2021-02-09T00:35:04","modified_gmt":"2021-02-09T00:35:04","slug":"conference-wrap-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/rie\/conference-wrap-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just under a month ago we held our second university wide research conference and it was great to see so many research staff and students getting together from across the university.<\/p>\n<p>The day had lots of presentations &#8211; using the 3 minute thesis approach for both our staff presenters and our students. It is quite a challenge to get across complex research ideas to a broad audience &#8211; and&nbsp;we&nbsp;raised the stakes by giving each presenter just three minutes and one slide to do so! But everyone nailed it &#8211; including one person who finished with one second to spare.<\/p>\n<p>There was extra pressure on our PhD students as one lucky presenter would be going through to the&nbsp;UK semi-finals with the chance to win \u00a33000 to use on public engagement activities.
