It is a launchpad. Through carefully designed training, you will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Test and validate your ideas in a safe and supportive environment<\/li>\n<li>Stress test your thinking with peers and industry experts<\/li>\n<li>Build confidence in the realities of entrepreneurship<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen your understanding of how research can translate into real world impact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>It is an ideal opportunity for Edinburgh Napier staff, students and recent graduates who are curious about commercialisation and want to explore the potential of their research in a growing and fast moving sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Who can apply?<\/h4>\n<p>The challenge is open to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Staff, students <\/strong>and <strong>recent graduates<\/strong> from participating Scottish universities, including Edinburgh Napier University (ENU)<\/li>\n<li>Working in disciplines in or related to the space sector<\/li>\n<li>With projects at an early stage of development, typically TRL 2 to 5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>You do not need a fully formed business plan. You only need a promising idea and the motivation to explore where it could go.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Is my project relevant?<\/h4>\n<p>This challenge is aimed at early-stage space sector projects with strong potential for long-term viability and meaningful impact. Converge is looking for ideas across both upstream and downstream activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upstream<\/strong><br \/>\nInnovations focused on new technologies within the space domain, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Launchers<\/li>\n<li>Satellites<\/li>\n<li>Ground systems<\/li>\n<li>Human spaceflight<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Downstream<\/strong><br \/>\nIdeas that use space systems or apply space technologies in non-space domains, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications and software<\/li>\n<li>Satellite navigation<\/li>\n<li>Earth observation<\/li>\n<li>Satellite communications<\/li>\n<li>Hardware, software or firmware solutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If your research touches on any of these areas, or could be adapted to, it is worth exploring an application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key dates:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Application deadline: 21 May<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In-person training programme: 1-3 July<\/li>\n<li>Business case submission: 13 August<\/li>\n<li>Final pitches: 15 September<\/li>\n<li>Winner(s) announced at Awards: 1 October<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To find out more about the Space Challenge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.convergechallenge.com\/our-challenges\/space-challenge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visit the Converge website<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Accelerate the future of space innovation by taking your early-stage ideas, from concept to impact!
