Powering these devices requires energy storage systems that are not only efficient but also capable of withstanding bending and deformation without compromising performance.<\/p>\n<p>This new research addresses this challenge by exploring perovskite-based materials, which offer a unique combination of electrical and ionic conductivity, low cost, and structural versatility. These properties make them ideal candidates for next-generation energy storage devices, particularly in <strong>wearable and flexible electronics<\/strong>, as suggested by Dr. Libu Manjakkal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/rie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2025\/09\/Manjakkal-Napier-500.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3125 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/rie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2025\/09\/Manjakkal-Napier-500.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/rie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2025\/09\/Manjakkal-Napier-500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/rie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2025\/09\/Manjakkal-Napier-500-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Spotlight on new materials for energy storage<\/h4>\n<p>In this study, the team explored new materials that could help create <strong>flexible energy storage devices<\/strong> &#8211; the kind that can bend without losing performance. These materials exhibit excellent charge storage capabilities due to their ability to host various ions, and their inherent oxygen vacancies contribute to high specific capacitance.<\/p>\n<p>Their findings suggest that this approach could lead to better, more adaptable energy storage solutions in the future, including stretchable devices and currently under investigation by the PhD student Febin Paul.<\/p>\n<h4>Celebrating collaborative research excellence<\/h4>\n<p>This publication reflects the strength of<strong> Edinburgh Napier\u2019s research community<\/strong> and the power of collaboration. This project was led by a collaborative team of researchers at Napier, including <strong>Febin Paul, Shahina Shareef, Mustehsan Beg, Keng Goh, <\/strong>and<strong> Libu Manjakkal<\/strong>. The team collaborate with the researchers from the <strong>University of Leeds<\/strong>, including <strong>Eric Kumi Barimah, Gin Jose<\/strong> and<strong> Zhilun Lu<\/strong> to further strengthen the work.
