Some sectors will be hit harder than others.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/rio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/11\/artificial-intelligence.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1723\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/rio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/11\/artificial-intelligence-261x300.jpg\" alt=\"Artificial intelligence\" width=\"261\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/rie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/11\/artificial-intelligence-261x300.jpg 261w, https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/rie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2020\/11\/artificial-intelligence.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a term used to describe \u201cany human-like intelligence exhibited by a computer, robot, or other machine\u201d or perhaps \u201cthe ability of a computer or machine to mimic the capabilities of the human mind\u2014learning from examples and experience, recognizing objects, understanding and responding to language, making decisions, solving problems\u2014and combining these and other capabilities to perform functions a human might perform\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>On December 10th <a href=\"https:\/\/ktn-uk.org\/people\/caroline-chibelushi\/\"><strong>Dr Caroline Chibelushi<\/strong><\/a>, the Knowledge Transfer Network\u2019s Knowledge Transfer Manager responsible for the acceleration of the safe and secure adoption of ethical AI will discuss the areas where AI might inform and shape in a post-Covid era. She will be joined by her colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/ktn-uk.org\/people\/lorna-howarth\/\"><strong>Lorna Howarth<\/strong><\/a> who is the Knowledge Transfer Adviser for companies based in Fife, Tayside, Perth, Stirling, Edinburgh and South Aberdeenshire and Lorna will show how <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ktn-uk.org\/programme\/knowledge-transfer-partnerships\/\">Knowledge Transfer Partnerships<\/a> (KTP\u2019s)<\/strong> can be used by businesses to access knowledge from academia to expedite the adoption of digital technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ktn-uk.org\/\"><strong>Knowledge Transfer Network<\/strong><\/a> is Innovate UK\u2019s network partner whose primary focus is <strong>connecting people in order to accelerate innovation<\/strong>. The KTN is working with the School of Engineering and the Built Environment at Edinburgh Napier University to examine the ways in which <strong>academics and industry can collaborate to support future innovative projects underpinned by the development of AI capabilities<\/strong>.
