The UK Council for Graduate Education (UKCGE) is keen to study the experiences of those who supervise doctoral candidates and is encouraging all those involved in doctoral supervision to take its 2024 survey.
The first UK Research Supervision Survey in 2021 provided valuable insights into doctoral supervision across the UK. Three years later, it is more important than ever that our sector recognises the time, energy, and commitment given by supervisors to supporting doctoral research.
Action: Please complete the survey before Monday 15 July. It should only take about 15 minutes.
Complete the survey: https://research.shift-insight.co.uk/UKRSS
Outcomes: The findings will form a report to help the UKCGE and the wider postgraduate community, to better understand the complexity of contemporary research supervision and how it is supported, recognised and rewarded.
The results will be made available in the autumn. All data will be anonymised.
The Next Generation Research SuperVision Project
Data from the first UKRSS informed the development of the Next Generation Research SuperVision Project (RSVP), a four-year, £4.6m Research England-funded project to understand contemporary research supervision culture and practice. This year’s findings will provide important information for the project and inform its development.
