09:15 – 10:00 Coffee networking<\/strong>
Come along from 09:15 to hear from our Vice Principal for Research and Innovation, Nick Antonopoulos, as he kicks off the forum!<\/p>\n

Bring your hot drink of choice along to our morning networking session: a chance to quickly meet lots of people before the forum gets going. You\u2019ll be put into groups of 3 for 10 minute introductions. Use the Researcher Skills Forum Notice Board<\/a> to connect with others throughout the day.<\/p>\n

You will also get a head start on our game of Virtual Bingo!<\/p>\n

10:15 – 11:15 Starting your literature review<\/span><\/b>
Subject Librarian team
<\/span><\/i><\/i>This session will help you develop strategies to search a range of information sources for your literature review, starting with planning your search. It will split into subject groups and Subject Librarians will highlight key resources for your School\u2019s subjects. This session maps to the RDF\u2019s sub domains of Knowledge base (A1) and Cognitive abilities (A2).<\/p>\n

11:30 – 12:30 Open access, repositories, and \u2018predatory\u2019 publishing<\/strong>
<\/span>Dr Stuart Lawson<\/em>
This session is in two parts. The first will describe why open access is important for you and the university. We\u2019ll discuss how to add an item to the outputs section of Worktribe, and other ways in which the library can support you with open access. In the second part, we\u2019ll discuss \u2018predatory\u2019 or deceptive publishing, and how to make smart publishing choices. There will be lots of time to ask questions about the issues raised.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>Come along to this panel discussion on Research Impact.

\u2018Research impact\u2019 has become a term often heard in our research culture and environment, and is being more frequently used by our research funders and policy makers as a central part of our research career success. Yet sometimes the term \u2018Research Impact\u2019 is not clear, and it is hard to work out what it actually means.<\/p>\n

Our panel of researchers and impact professional staff will share their perspectives, experiences and lessons learned from their ‘Research impact\u2019 activities, and offer up considerations for exploring future opportunities to shape our research impact community.<\/p>\n

The panel will speak to the following key questions:
\u2022 What is research impact?
\u2022 Why is impact important?
\u2022 How can we make an impact with our research?<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/span>Join us, along with the Principal Andrea Nolan, as we reflect on the day’s activities with each other and have one last go at getting our virtual bingo cards filled in!<\/p>\n

Sessions have been mapped to Vitae\u2019s Researcher Development Framework (RDF)<\/a>. The RDF aims to help you whether you are a member of research staff, studying for a PhD or continuing in your academic career.<\/p>\n
