{"id":543,"date":"2016-05-30T08:03:46","date_gmt":"2016-05-30T08:03:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/psynaps\/?page_id=543"},"modified":"2016-05-30T08:03:46","modified_gmt":"2016-05-30T08:03:46","slug":"helping-the-ones-who-love-the-importance-of-empathy-towards-those-living-with-a-suicidal-loved-one","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/psynaps\/helping-the-ones-who-love-the-importance-of-empathy-towards-those-living-with-a-suicidal-loved-one\/","title":{"rendered":"Helping the ones who love: The importance of empathy towards those living with a suicidal loved one"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three of our team, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/psynaps\/ms-nicole-walsh\/\">Nicole Walsh<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/psynaps\/rachel-hanson\/\">Rachel Hanson<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/psynaps\/jennifer-murray\/\">Jennifer Murray<\/a>, are hosting a session at <strong>Edinburgh&#8217;s Festival of Empathy<\/strong> on June 18th, 4-5pm in the Glass Room at Edinburgh Napier University&#8217;s Merchiston Campus.<\/p>\n<p>The session will explore the feelings and experiences of those who have experience of living with a suicidal loved one, and the impact that empathy, or a lack of empathy, might have on their lives. We will show a short artistic film that has been developed using our research findings and own lives experiences, and will discuss this as a whole group. We will then break into smaller groups to explore what empathy means in this situation. These discussions will be fully facilitated in a non-judgemental atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>This event is part of the Edinburgh Festival of Empathy run by Edinburgh Development Group and funded by the Big Lottery.<\/p>\n<p>The festival is offering lots of welcoming, interactive and free events from Empathy Meals to workshops on empathy through listening, drama, photography, dance and even laughter!
