We&#8217;ve collected together a few key things that you need to know to be <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/decisiontree\/ref-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">REF<\/a> ready!<\/p>\n<h2>Have you clicked the Deposit button?<\/h2>\n<p>When you&#8217;re adding work to the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/research-repository\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repository<\/a> in WorkTribe, your record is not submitted until the Deposit button has been clicked. The repository team has noticed that this can be a step that&#8217;s often missed. The deposit button turns green when all the required fields are completed:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/key-things-to-know-to-get-ref-ready\/depositbutton\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1614\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"806\" height=\"183\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1614\" alt=\"Green deposit button in repository\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2020\/01\/DepositButton.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2020\/01\/DepositButton.jpg 806w, https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2020\/01\/DepositButton-300x68.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2020\/01\/DepositButton-768x174.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 806px) 100vw, 806px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When you click the button, your work is reviewed by the repository team and added to the repository. Only when this deposit it completed can your work be made available <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/open-access\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">open access<\/a>, an essential condition for work to be considered for inclusion in this year&#8217;s REF submission. It&#8217;s vital that deposit is completed within three months from the date of acceptance, however we strongly advise that you <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/decisiontree\/act-on-acceptance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">act on acceptance<\/a> by depositing your work as soon as you hear it&#8217;s accepted for publication.<\/p>\n<h2>The Repository team<\/h2>\n<p>This is a small group of Library staff, led by the Research Repository Advisor, Dr Stuart Lawson. They ensure items are correctly deposited in the repository. They also manage the <a href=\"mailto:repository@napier.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repository@napier.ac.uk<\/a> email account and respond to your questions and comments. If you&#8217;re depositing items that could potentially be included in the next REF, it&#8217;s essential they are deposited correctly.
