The results of\u00a0which are\u00a0expected to be reported in\u00a02021.<\/p>\n<p>In a\u00a0significant step yesterday,\u00a0HEFCE\u00a0announced the\u00a0appointment of Kim Hackett as the manager to lead the\u00a0development and implementation of the\u00a0next REF. After time to consider the\u00a0feedback from the online consultation and briefing events which took place earlier this year,\u00a0&#8220;<em>initial decisions on the next REF are expected to be confirmed later this year<\/em>&#8221; (HEFCE 2017).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/decisiontree\/act-on-acceptance\/act-on-acceptance-open-access-blog-banner-2\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1162\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1162 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2016\/01\/Act-on-acceptance-Open-Access-blog-banner-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2016\/01\/Act-on-acceptance-Open-Access-blog-banner-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2016\/01\/Act-on-acceptance-Open-Access-blog-banner-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2016\/01\/Act-on-acceptance-Open-Access-blog-banner.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Until 1st\u00a0April 2018, you must deposit your work in an institutional repository within\u00a03 months of publication if you want it to be eligible for inclusion in the next REF. However, this rule is going to change on 1st April 2018 when you must deposit your work in a repository within 3 months of acceptance for publication. Ah!\u00a0There&#8217;s a subtle change of wording there, but the deadline for action by you becomes much tighter! So, along with <a href=\"http:\/\/openaccess.ox.ac.uk\/home-2\/act-on-acceptance\/\" target=\"_blank\">other institutions<\/a>, we strongly recommend that you <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/open-access\/decisiontree\/act-on-acceptance\/\">&#8216;Act on acceptance&#8217; <\/a>and deposit your work through <a href=\"https:\/\/napier-research.worktribe.com\/login.jx\" target=\"_blank\">Worktribe Research Management System <\/a>(RMS)\u00a0as soon as you learn it has been accepted for publication. Yes, we&#8217;re\u00a0getting a bit ahead of ourselves as\u00a0this new rule coming into force in twelve months time\u00a0but it&#8217;s\u00a0good to get into the habit of complying with this rule now. For you, there&#8217;s the benefit\u00a0of knowing that your\u00a0work will be eligible for inclusion in the next REF.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,\u00a0over the last year there&#8217;s been a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes\u00a0getting the new Worktribe RMS up and running, including the\u00a0huge, unenviable\u00a0task of transferring\u00a0all the data across from the old repository.
