The work must be subject to copyright before you can add a Creative Commons licence\u00a0so you need to consider who is the copyright holder\u00a0for the work.<\/p>\n<p>The licenses provide different levels of permitted sharing of copyright works and are increasingly being used globally. Work can be copied, distributed, edited and\u00a0remixed depending on the Creative Commons licence and copyright restrictions.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How do I choose the right Creative Commons licence for my work?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There are several different licences available. The <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by\/4.0\/\">Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY)<\/a> license is the most common for open access academic journals.<\/p>\n<p>There are <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.creativecommons.org\/Before_Licensing\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">points to consider and questions to ask<\/span><\/a> <\/span>yourself before you decide which Creative Commons licence is right for you. There\u2019s a handy <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a href=\"http:\/\/creativecommons.org\/choose\/\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Licence Chooser<\/span><\/a> <\/span>tool on the Creative Commons website to help you select a licence for your work.
