2018 in March sought to tackle the \u2018elephant in the room\u2019, which had been suggested as a topic back in 2017: GDPR.<\/p>\n<p>With the implementation date not far off on 25 May 2018, it seemed a good moment to encourage resource-sharing for charity trustees still looking to get their heads around what\u2019s involved.<\/p>\n<p>We had around 2,500 views during this trusteehour, with a number of online references shared.\u00a0 This <a href=\"https:\/\/ico.org.uk\/for-organisations\/charity\/charities-faqs\/\">link<\/a> is for the Information Commissioner\u2019s Office FAQs for charities.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.institute-of-fundraising.org.uk\/guidance\/research\/get-ready-for-gdpr\/\">resources<\/a> brought together by the Institute of Fundraising.<\/p>\n<p>Information and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncvo.org.uk\/practical-support\/information\/data-protection\">guidance<\/a> from NCVO was also shared.<\/p>\n<p>Taking a proactive approach to data and re-engaging with supporters was a theme identified, as an opportunity to use GDPR as a positive step.\u00a0 @Osborn_Jo mentioned two charities she had seen active in this space:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/miles-weaver\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/04\/ap1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full
