The intention is to make an impact by developing a competency pathway to encourage and support\u00a0the first talent pipeline for Charity\/Social Enterprise board members. Additionally, to map and support the vibrancy of the Board Governance eco-system.<\/p>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<p>The <span style=\"font-style: normal !msorm\"><em>Get on Board Competency<\/em><\/span> <em>Pathway for Trustees<\/em>\u00a0is made of three levels: <span style=\"font-style: normal !msorm\"><em>bronze, silver<\/em><\/span> and <span style=\"font-style: normal !msorm\"><em>gold<\/em><\/span>. Each detail\u00a0the learning outcomes that need to be demonstrated for each level of achievement broken down into the <em>Knowledge, Skills<\/em>, <em>Mind-set <\/em>and<em> experience <\/em><i><span style=\"font-weight: normal !msorm\">that<\/span><\/i> a board member should develop and demonstrate (shown below). Followed by some guidance on how each participant can demonstrate the specific criteria (see detailed document &#8211; link below).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-243\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/miles-weaver\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/11\/Slide1.jpg\" alt=\"Slide1.jpg\" width=\"720\" height=\"498\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/miles-weaver\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/11\/Slide1.jpg 720w, https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/miles-weaver\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/11\/Slide1-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To support the pathway the following are offered as part of the learning materials developed by the get on board team at Edinburgh Napier University:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Slides that can be used as part of a Bronze taster session and an introduction to the GoB competency pathway<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Workbooks for Bronze and Silver<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Guidance notes on the reflective discussions at each level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the above, it is intended that third sector organisations and local businesses can provide additional resources to support the competency pathway. Thus, enabling a range of providers and opportunities that can grow into a vibrant and supportive community of practice.\u00a0Particularly, in providing professional development opportunities for young professionals such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Competency development training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>face-to-face<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>online resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Opportunities to gain an experience in the relevant sector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Networking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Volunteering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Mentoring<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Board Shadowing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Board Recruitment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsmuk.com\/charityboardinitiative\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charity Board Initative<\/a>, a partnership between RSM, Santander and Edinburgh Napier University will offer a pilot in Edinburgh for students at Edinburgh Napier University and Edinburgh University and act as the accrediting body.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The full details about the competency pathway and eco-system for Board Governance in Scotland can be found <a title=\"Get on Board Trustees Competency Pathway 15.11.17\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/miles-weaver\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2017\/11\/Get-on-Board-Trustees-Competency-Pathway-15.11.17.pdf\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Get on Board Competency Pathway for Trustees\u00a0has been developed by the ICMGR at Edinburgh Napier University Business School.
