It is a month-long celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and non-binary history, including the history of LGBT+ rights and related civil rights movements. In the United Kingdom, we celebrate it in February to coincide with the 2003 abolition of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Section_28\">Section 28<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Events and celebrations are organised by the LGBTQ+\u00a0 History Month organisation which was founded in 2004. The first LGBTQ+ History month was in February 2005 by was run by Sue Sanders and Paul Patrick. The organisation has three taglines \u2018claiming our past, celebrating our present, creating our future\u2019. The main aims are \u2018increasing visibility, raising awareness and advancing education\u2019. Whilst \u2018working towards creating safe spaces and promoting welfare\u2019. You can find all events that are taking place this month on the LGBTQ+ Plus History Month\u00a0website\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lgbtplushistorymonth.co.uk\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h1>Celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month at Napier<\/h1>\n<h2>Resources at the Library<\/h2>\n<p>Here at the Library, we think supporting and promoting equality and diversity is incredibly important. Furthermore, we are working hard to create more inclusive collections and to support our LGBT+ users and staff. For example, we have a\u00a0 LGBT+ virtual <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/library\/inclusive-bookshelves-two\/\">bookshelf<\/a> here on our blog.\u00a0 We have our\u00a0 Libguide on <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.napier.ac.uk\/wellbeing\/sexuality\">sexuality and relationships<\/a>, please remember if you have suggestions for books we can add to our stock, you can email library@napier.ac.uk<\/p>\n<p>And we want to add that we strive for the library to be a safe and inclusive space for all. If you have any feedback on our spaces, please email library@napier.ac.uk<\/p>\n<h4>Resources at University<\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you are an LGBT+ student you can join\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.napierstudents.com\/organisation\/societies\/napierlgbt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Edinburgh<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Napier\u2019s LGBT+ Society. \u00a0<\/span><\/a>\u00a0You can also\u00a0<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">find out more about the student LGBT+ community on the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.napierstudents.com\/organisation\/societies\/napierlgbt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Queer Napier<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0site.
