Many of you will\u00a0have visited\u00a0the\u00a0Lions\u2019 Gate\u00a0garden\u00a0at\u00a0Merchiston\u00a0campus\u00a0\u00a0(you get a good view of it from the Library\u2019s Relaxation Space!).\u00a0Well\u00a0the good news is that\u00a0Callum Egan,\u00a0the garden\u00a0co-ordinator\u00a0(working with ENSA, the Business School and the Development Office),\u00a0has secured funding from the\u00a0Scottish Government\u2019s\u00a0Community Climate Asset Fund\u00a0to develop areas at Craiglockhart and Sighthill campuses.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Raised beds,\u00a0a\u00a0water harvesting kit,\u00a0top soil\u00a0and compost have already been\u00a0purchased,\u00a0along with plants with culinary and medicinal benefits.\u00a0 The fund has also been\u00a0used to\u00a0buy\u00a0apple and plum trees.\u00a0 The team working on this would like to create a\u00a0micro-forest\u00a0at Sighthill,\u00a0and\u00a0at\u00a0Craiglockhart there\u2019ll be a small orchard and a thinking walk around the grounds.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The good news is that the\u00a0Craiglockhart orchard\u00a0has now been created.\u00a0\u00a0I was lucky enough to\u00a0be part of a\u00a0group of 15\u00a0helping out\u00a0with the planting of\u00a02 plum and 10 apple trees.\u00a0Take a look\u00a0next time you\u2019re\u00a0on\u00a0campus.
