This upgrade ensures Moodle continues to receive important security updates, and will combine feature improvements from versions <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/36\/en\/New_features\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3.6<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/37\/en\/New_features\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3.7<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/38\/en\/New_features\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3.8<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/39\/en\/New_features\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3.9<\/a>. We aim to upgrade the Moodle Community and Staff Training servers before the main upgrade, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/learningtechnologyhub\/help-and-support\/meet-the-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Learning Technology Support<\/a> team will be happy to import any modules for advanced viewing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The most noticeable changes from the upgrade include,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Building courses<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/39\/en\/File:TurnEditingOn.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Turn editing on<\/a> is a bright new button, the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/39\/en\/File:NewActivityChooser.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Activity chooser<\/a> can star and view recommended activities and resources, and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/39\/en\/H5P\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">H5P interactive content<\/a> is now fully integrated.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Navigation<\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/36\/en\/Recently_accessed_items_block\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Recently accessed items<\/a> block may be added to the Dashboard, either positioned in the centre or to one side. <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/39\/en\/File:BookNavigation.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Navigation in the Book<\/a> has been made clearer, and quickly <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/39\/en\/File:GoToTop.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">move to the top of the screen<\/a> to reduce scrolling.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Messaging:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/36\/en\/File:36docsnewmessaginginterface.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New messaging interface<\/a> with greater control over who can message you, along with the ability to star messages and engage in group messaging. <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/37\/en\/File:DocsMuteMessages.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Other enhancements<\/a> include a link to a full page, two column view and the ability to mute conversations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Resources:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/37\/en\/File:DocsBookPrint.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Print books or chapters<\/a> in books with a more attractive output, Teachers can <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/37\/en\/File:DocsTeacherHiddenBookPage.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">view hidden chapters<\/a> in a book with the editing turned off.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Assignments<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/36\/en\/File:docsAssignmentFeedback.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Record audio feedback<\/a> (3 minutes) when grading, and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/37\/en\/File:DocsAssignmentPDFRotate.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rotate submitted PDFs<\/a> for easier viewing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Forums<\/strong>: the ability to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/37\/en\/Using_Forum#Star_discussions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">star and sort<\/a> discussions, to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/37\/en\/File:DocsForumReplySamePage.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reply inline<\/a>, to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/37\/en\/Using_Forum#Private_replies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reply privately<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/38\/en\/File:MessagingEmoji.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">add emojis<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/38\/en\/File:StudentForumGrading.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">grade forums<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/38\/en\/File:ForumSummaryReport.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">export discussions<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/37\/en\/Using_Forum#Manually_locking_discussion_threads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">manually lock threads<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quizzes<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/37\/en\/File:DocsQuizClearChoice.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clear my choice<\/a> allows students to remove their choice in an MCQ, the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/36\/en\/Drag_and_drop_markers_question_type\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">drag and drop markers<\/a> question type is easier to edit, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/38\/en\/File:QbankIDTags.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">question bank<\/a> has a new editor.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>User experience:<\/strong> A <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/38\/en\/File:Timeout.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">session timeout alert<\/a> helps ensure work is not lost due to inactive Moodle sessions.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.moodle.org\/36\/en\/File:36Onlineusers.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hide
