Contact your programme administrator for assistance in setting up new modules.<\/p>\n<p>If you are facing a situation where you will be duplicating a lot of the same materials across different modules, your campus Learning Technologist can provide you with a <strong>Crosslist<\/strong> course or a <strong>Learning Space <\/strong>course. <span style=\"color: inherit\">These courses will allow you to manage multiple modules as a single entity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>You can request a Crosslist or Learning Space <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/napier.unidesk.ac.uk\/tas\/public\/ssp\/content\/serviceflow?unid=cfa39dfecfad4c01939e66b52f1e5691&amp;from=371142ac-eb27-4fc2-bfa8-347e6be73b16&amp;openedFromService=true\">with this Unidesk form<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Request a Crosslist course<\/strong> if you wish to stop using your modules and handle everything in the Crosslist. Students will no longer see the modules. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">New Crosslists have to be requested each academic session.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Request a Learning Space<\/strong> if you wish the modules to remain accessible to the students. Materials or activities common to all students can be deployed on the Learning Space and materials which differ between the modules can be deployed on the modules. If the Learning Spaces do not include materials relating to assessment (which need to be archived), they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">can potentially be re-used with new cohorts in new academic sessions.<\/span> Consult your campus Learning Technologist for advice on the pros and cons for your case.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The above is all you need to know to get started<\/span>. Some more detailed information on how Crosslists and Learning Spaces operate within Moodle is provided below.<\/p>\n<h3>Crosslist Courses<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_2130\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/learningtechnologyhub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/37\/2018\/03\/XLexamples-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2130\" class=\"wp-image-2130 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/learningtechnologyhub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/37\/2018\/03\/XLexamples-1-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/learningtechnologyhub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/37\/2018\/03\/XLexamples-1-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/learningtechnologyhub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/37\/2018\/03\/XLexamples-1-100x100.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2130\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Example crosslisted modules<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em>Crosslists begin with XL00 and <\/em>enrolments are taken from the \u2018child\u2019 module occurrences, which are then hidden from staff and students so that only the parent course is visible.<\/p>\n<p>The XL code will include the trimester of the child modules (eg. <em>XL000981_2022-3_TR2_001<\/em>) or will default to ALL if the modules are from across trimesters.<\/p>\n<p>When filling in your form (see link above) to request a Crosslist, ensure you provide the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full Module Titles for each module to be included in the umbrella course (Module Code, Year, Trimester, Occurrence)<\/li>\n<li>The Title of the Crosslist. Normally you will wish this to include the anchor modules for easy identification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The new parent course will be empty but you can <a href=\"https:\/\/napier.cloud.panopto.eu\/Panopto\/Pages\/Viewer.aspx?id=ed3a33c6-fbfd-4ace-9786-acb500abca83\">import materials from another course<\/a> in the normal manner. Contact your <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/learningtechnologyhub\/help-and-support\/meet-the-team\/\">Learning Technology Adviso<\/a>r if you are unfamiliar with the process.<\/p>\n<p>Leganto reading lists will also be empty, and so your <a href=\"https:\/\/staff.napier.ac.uk\/services\/library\/helpcentre\/Pages\/MyLibrarian.aspx\">subject librarian<\/a> must tie the child module reading lists to the new parent module list via the library management system. Students are enrolled in bulk from existing Moodle module occurrences\/programme codes.
