Presenters’ Guidelines

Long talks in the program are allocated 20 minutes, plus five minutes for questions. Short talks are allocated 10 minutes, plus five minutes for questions. Speakers must keep to the time allocated for their talks, which will be strictly enforced by the session chairs. Keeping to time is particularly important as delegates also attending Diagrams may wish to move between parallel sessions, depending on which talks they wish to see.

Speakers should arrive at their session at least ten minutes early to introduce themselves to the session chair and to check that their laptop works with the equipment supplied.

Equipment Available

Each room includes a data projector with HDMI and a VGA connector, along with an Edinburgh Napier computer with Powerpoint 2016 installed. Presenters who do not intend to use their own laptop should bring their slides on a memory stick. They should check their slides on the PC available in the room well before the session in which their talk is scheduled.

The banked lecture theatres (where some talks will take place) have microphones.

Presenters that have any particular audio-visual needs, or other specific requirements for their talks, should email p.chapman ‘@’ napier.ac.uk before May 31, 2018 to see whether their needs can be met.

Wifi is available for delegates in the conference room. Details of how to connect will be provided in the delegate pack which is provided at the registration desk.

Room capacities are as follows:

1.D.02: 400 people (banked lecture theatre)
1.D.04: 170 people (banked lecture theatre)
2.D.04: 88 people (flat room)
2.D.05: 88 people (flat room)

Poster Presenters

Posters should be a maximum of 1 metre wide and 2 metres tall in order to fit on the poster board. The organisers will provide a means to attach posters to the boards. Please note that we are unable to provide printing facilities. Therefore, poster presenters must bring a printed copy of their poster to the conference for display in the poster session. During the session, presenters are expected to attend their poster, so that they may explain and discuss their findings with delegates. During the Thursday 1100-1230 talk sessions, poster presenters will have five minutes to give a brief summary of their poster.
