{"id":202,"date":"2021-06-07T13:05:36","date_gmt":"2021-06-07T13:05:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/enuapplyscience\/?p=202"},"modified":"2021-06-07T13:57:13","modified_gmt":"2021-06-07T13:57:13","slug":"inspiring-the-nation-to-get-more-active","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/enuapplyscience\/2021\/06\/07\/inspiring-the-nation-to-get-more-active\/","title":{"rendered":"Inspiring the nation to get more active"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Together with CIMSPA and our employer partners, the School of Applied Sciences is developing a vibrant, UK-wide sport and physical activity sector (this includes a focused development board in Scotland), with the highest standards of service delivery now reflected in six professional standard endorsements for Edinburgh Napier&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.napier.ac.uk\/courses\/bsc-hons-physical-activity-and-health-undergraduate-fulltime\">BSc Physical Activity &amp; Health<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.napier.ac.uk\/courses\/bsc-hons-physical-activity-and-health-undergraduate-fulltime\">BSc Physical Activity &amp; Health<\/a> is endorsed for:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CIMSPA professional standard &#8211; gym instructor<\/li>\n<li>CIMSPA professional standard \u2013 personal trainer<\/li>\n<li>CIMSPA professional standard \u2013 working with people with long-term conditions<\/li>\n<li>CIMSPA professional standard &#8211; health navigator<\/li>\n<li>CIMSPA professional standard \u2013 safeguarding and protecting children<\/li>\n<li>CIMSPA professional standard \u2013 safeguarding adults and adults at risk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimspa.co.uk\/\">CIMSPA<\/a>) is the professional development body for the UK\u2019s sport and physical activity sector, committed to supporting, developing and enabling professionals and organisations to succeed and, as a result, inspire our nation to become more active.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What does this mean our students can do \u2026 and what about their employability?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As well as a science degree that focuses on physical activity and health, students are provided with all the knowledge, skills and behaviours to meet minimum deployment standards in the health and fitness industry.<\/li>\n<li>The professional standards have been developed in conjunction with employers and technical experts in order to match the demands of the role within the workplace.<\/li>\n<li>As such, our CIMSPA endorsement for the professional standards detailed above, means that our program contains all the required learning and development requirements for competency in a role in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/enuapplyscience\/2021\/06\/07\/building-back-better-the-role-of-students\/\">health and fitness industry<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Together with CIMSPA and our employer partners, the School of Applied Sciences is developing a vibrant, UK-wide sport and physical activity sector (this includes a focused development board in Scotland), with the highest standards of service delivery now reflected in six professional standard endorsements for Edinburgh Napier&#8217;s BSc Physical Activity &amp; Health.
