The\u00a013th Annual Meeting of the Northern\u00a0European Network for Wood Science\u00a0and Engineering (WSE 2017) will take place on 28-29 September 2017\u00a0in Copenhagen, Denmark.<\/p>\n

Established in 2004, the Northern European Network\u00a0for Wood Science & Engineering currently involves 10\u00a0partner countries. Beginning in Honne (N) in 2005, \u00a0successful annual meetings have subsequently been\u00a0held in Stockholm (SE), Helsinki (FI), Riga (LV),\u00a0Copenhagen (DK), Tallinn (EST), Oslo (N), Kaunas\u00a0(LIT), Hannover (DE), Edinburgh (UK), Poznan (PL),\u00a0and Riga (LV). During this period, the WSE platform\u00a0has matured into an invaluable forum for researchers\u00a0in all aspects of wood science and engineering to\u00a0meet and share knowledge.<\/p>\n

The conference will cover the following themes:
\n– Wood physics and mechanics
\n– Engineered wood products & composites
\n– Wood protection and modification, durability
\n– Application of wood based materials
\n– Wood engineering<\/p>\n

Call for abstracts
\nWe encourage scientists and engineers, in particular early\u00a0stage researchers (students and PhD students) to submit\u00a0papers that cover the meeting themes. Abstracts of the paper (max. 500 words) should be sent to the conference\u00a0secretariat by email: eet@ign.ku.dk
\nPlease indicate whether you would\u00a0like to give an oral presentation or to display a poster.

The network is supported by funding from the “EFINORD \u2013 SNS Networks” scheme. \u00a0The\u00a0aim is to promote North European synergies within forest research and to establish closer collaboration between forest research communities in the Nordic, Baltic Sea and the North Atlantic regions, preferably with a cross-disciplinary approach by networking, workshops, seminars and joint utilization of research facilities.<\/p>\n

The networks in this scheme should cover topics within sustainable forest management of Nordic interest, including for example dissemination of research results or providing of research based policy advice for a sustainable future. \u00a0The countries involved are from the Nordic* area and the\u00a0EFINORD area**.<\/p>\n

(*) Nordic is defined here as Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the autonomous areas, Faroe Islands, Greenland, and \u00c5land Islands. (**) Other countries in the EFINORD area is defined here as Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, NW Russia, Poland, Northern Germany, Northern UK, Ireland.<\/p>\n
