display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ywmpu9LLtDg?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The amount of water in wood is (for wood products) expressed as the mass of the water, divided by the mass of totally dry wood. \u00a0In the living tree the moisture content can exceed 100% by this measure &#8211; and can be more than 200% in the sapwood of softwoods.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the properties of wood that are of interest for structural timber depend on the moisture content, so this is an important measurement. \u00a0For a lot more information on this topic, check out the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fpl.fs.fed.us\/documnts\/fplgtr\/fpl_gtr190.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">American Wood Handbook<\/a>&#8221;
