For other information you can refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wood-database.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wood database website<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trada.co.uk\/wood-species\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TRADA&#8217;s wood species database,<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.woodcampus.co.uk\/builder-and-trade_timber-species\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wood Campus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brebookshop.com\/details.jsp?id=537\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Lavers&#8221;<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fpl.fs.fed.us\/products\/publications\/specific_pub.php?posting_id=18102&amp;header_id=p\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">USDA wood handbook<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/forest.jrc.ec.europa.eu\/european-atlas-of-forest-tree-species\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European atlas of forest tree species<\/a>, and several other websites, industry publications and books &#8211; but please bear in mind that wood properties vary hugely by growth area, by the standards used to measure them, and by reference conditions.\u00a0 Some literature also reports values based on very limited sampling and with a misleading level of certainty and precision.\u00a0 The information we present here is what we consider to be the best available for home-grown timber at this time.<\/p>\n<p>The four letter species and species combination codes are from\u00a0EN13556 and EN14081-1<\/p>\n<p>For an overview of properties related to grading, see our &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/cwst\/grade-britain2\/\">Grade in Britain revisited<\/a>&#8221;
