{"id":531,"date":"2022-05-24T09:08:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-24T09:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/social-informatics\/?p=531"},"modified":"2022-05-23T08:34:58","modified_gmt":"2022-05-23T08:34:58","slug":"three-new-publications-on-information-literacy-from-csi-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/social-informatics\/2022\/05\/three-new-publications-on-information-literacy-from-csi-members\/","title":{"rendered":"Three new publications on information literacy from CSI members"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three new information literacy outputs were recently published by CSI\u2019s visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.degroote.mcmaster.ca\/profiles\/brian-detlor\/\">Professor Brian Detlor<\/a> and second-year PhD student <a href=\"https:\/\/www.napier.ac.uk\/people\/marina-milosheva\">Marina Milosheva<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first of the three outputs, published in the latest issue of the<em> Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology (JASIST) <\/em>is Brian\u2019s paper \u201cCommunity-led digital literacy training: Toward a conceptual framework\u201d, co-authored with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buffalo.edu\/news\/experts\/heidi-julien-faculty-expert-digital-literacy.html\">Heidi Julien<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/socialsciences.mcmaster.ca\/people\/la-rose-tara\">Tara La Rose<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.degroote.mcmaster.ca\/profiles\/dr-alexander-serenko\/\">Alexander Serenko<\/a>. In the paper, Brian and his co-authors present the findings from an exploratory study of the factors affecting digital literacy training provided by local community organisations. Their work draws on case studies of five local community organisations and two public libraries in Canada and results in the development of a holistic conceptual framework of digital literacy training provided by local community organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1002\/asi.24639\">The full paper is available to read on the ASIS&amp;T website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"705\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/social-informatics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/98\/2022\/05\/0-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/social-informatics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/98\/2022\/05\/0-1.png 705w, https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/social-informatics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/98\/2022\/05\/0-1-300x134.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 705px) 100vw, 705px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second and third information literacy publications in the line-up are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.napier.ac.uk\/people\/marina-milosheva\">Marina Milosheva<\/a>\u2019s latest outputs from her PhD:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Her literature review paper presented at the <a href=\"http:\/\/ecil2021.ilconf.org\/\">European Conference on Information Literacy<\/a> (ECIL) in late 2021, entitled \u201cNew information literacy horizons: Making the case for career information literacy\u201d (in press)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Her conceptual framework paper entitled \u201cCapturing career information use in everyday life: introducing the CIEL conceptual framework\u201d (accepted for publication in <a href=\"http:\/\/informationr.net\/ir\/\">Information Research<\/a>). <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marina has written two blog posts about her ECIL publication and her participation at the ECIL conference.
