{"id":1159,"date":"2023-12-11T12:30:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-11T12:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/social-informatics\/?p=1159"},"modified":"2023-12-08T12:57:08","modified_gmt":"2023-12-08T12:57:08","slug":"new-roles-for-research-group-members-drew-feeney-and-bruce-ryan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/social-informatics\/2023\/12\/new-roles-for-research-group-members-drew-feeney-and-bruce-ryan\/","title":{"rendered":"New roles for research group members Drew Feeney and Bruce Ryan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congratulations to Social Informatics Research Group member\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/napier-repository.worktribe.com\/person\/2947831\/drew-feeney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Drew Feeney<\/a>, who is now the Public Libraries representative on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cilip.org.uk\/members\/group_content_view.asp?group=201302&amp;id=690012\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CILIP\u2019s Information Literacy Group<\/a>\u00a0(ILG).\u00a0He will represent the UK\u2019s national Public Library sector on this key professional body, which aims to engage with and promote the exchange of knowledge in all aspects of information literacy in both the academic and wider civic environments. Drew is delighted to undertake this role as it fits very well with both his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/social-informatics\/2022\/11\/new-phd-project-user-led-approaches-to-supporting-digital-literacies-and-online-information-systems-use\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ongoing research interests<\/a>\u00a0and with his professional background as a Librarian in the public sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/napier-repository.worktribe.com\/person\/110770\/bruce-ryan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bruce Ryan<\/a>\u00a0has become secretary of the Scottish Media and Information Literacy Community of Practice (MIL CoP). His main duties will be arranging MIL COP meetings, then taking minutes. Outside of academia, Bruce is minutes secretary for three Edinburgh community councils (<a href=\"https:\/\/leithcentralcc.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leith Central<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lhncc.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leith Harbour &amp; Newhaven<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntbcc.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Town &amp; Broughton<\/a>), so he looks forward to undertaking similar work in his academic life.
