It helps you to measure it&#8217;s impact, but when it&#8217;s done well can also help you to plan your project; the evaluation needs to start at the beginning of the project. The way in which you decide to evaluate your project will depend on the methodology you&#8217;re using, who you&#8217;re engaging with, and how long-term it is. Funders often require you to report on the impact of your engagement, and it&#8217;s increasingly important for REF. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are some useful resources about evaluation of public engagement: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qmul.ac.uk\/publicengagement\/support\/guides\/evaluation-toolkit\/\">Evaluation Toolkit (Queen Mary University London)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This toolkit (which can be downloaded) has examples of using different approaches for evaluation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicengagement.ac.uk\/do-engagement\/evaluating-public-engagement\">Evaluating Public Engagement (NCCPE) <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This gives a good overview of why evaluation matters, and how to carry it out<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fasttrackimpact.com\/resources\">Planning your Impact (Fast Track Impact) <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Resources to help create impactful engagement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/evaluationsupportscotland.org.uk\/resources\/\">Evaluation Support Scotland resources<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lots of excellent resrouces created for and with the third sector in Scotland<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchtoaction.org\/2024\/04\/the-public-engagement-evaluation-toolkit\/\">Research to Action&#8217;s evaluation toolkit<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carrying out effective evaluation of your project is important.
