Thank you for bringing your public engagement activity to our showcase – we’re thrilled you’re joining us!
Please arrive from 2pm to set up your stall or activity ahead of the Showcase starting at 2.30pm.
The showcase will be at the Craiglockhart campus, hopefully both inside and outside but there are plans to move inside if the weather doesn’t allow that. We will have researchers from across the university sharing different types of public engagement they’ve been involved in, and some colleagues with very little experience of public engagement who are looking for inspiration.
In true public engagement style, we’d like you to share your work so that it is accessible and understandable by everyone. We don’t want you to spend lots of time pulling something together: ideally you’ll bring something that already exists from your public engagement activity.
If you’d like to invite someone who was involved in your project (perhaps a community partner, or participant), please feel free to send them the registration link (and ask them to register no later than Monday 19 May at 10am) https://NapierPublicEngagementShowcase2025.eventbrite.com
- The plan is for each researcher/ project to have an A4 poster sign with a few details about your public engagement activity. This should include:
- name of the project
- date of the project
- names of all Napier researchers involved
- names of the community partner(s) and organisations you worked with (ie museum, third sector organisation, school etc)
- a few sentences about what you did
- any photos or images related to the project and/or a QR code linking to more information (optional)
If you don’t have enough time to produce something, I will do this for you. If you are going to produce a poster sign, please email it to me no later than Monday 19 May.
Each A4 poster sign will be on a table, and we would like to invite you to bring along something from your activity. This might be something interactive that you can ‘re-run’ at the showcase, a prop or something relevant from the activity, a leaflet or some photos from the activity or a short film.
- Please note that we don’t want any academic posters or power point – we’re celebrating public engagement not academic conferences!
I’d also like to invite you to present your public engagement project at the event – this will probably be outside, with no screen (so no powerpoint!), and we’ll give each presenter about three minutes to wet the appetite of the audience.
Please do the following:
- send me your A4 poster sign or let me know if you can’t do this by Monday 19 May
- let me know if you need any additional equipment or other requirements (specific space, electrical power, chairs for participants etc)
- let me know by Friday 16 May if you need any support transporting equipment to and from Craiglockhart
- if you’re planning to show a film/ play audio etc, please bring your own laptop if you are a member of staff or let me know if this is problematic and I’ll see if we can provide one for you (let me know by Friday 16 May)
Please email me if you have any questions, or call me on 07803 576740 from Wednesday 21 May with any last minute concerns.
