{"id":187,"date":"2024-09-04T12:57:21","date_gmt":"2024-09-04T12:57:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/enuhealthsocial\/?p=187"},"modified":"2024-09-05T13:13:17","modified_gmt":"2024-09-05T13:13:17","slug":"nihr-team-science-camp-on-applied-health-and-social-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/enuhealthsocial\/2024\/09\/04\/nihr-team-science-camp-on-applied-health-and-social-care\/","title":{"rendered":"NIHR Team Science Camp on Applied Health and Social Care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor of Simulation and Clinical Skills at Edinburgh Napier, Cathal Breen, will be joining the NIHR Team Science Camp on 17th-19th September 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Camp will bring together methodologists from applied health and social care with statisticians, health economists, behavioural scientists, and experts in areas such as bioethics, computer science, health informatics, and data science to focus on Applied Health and Social Care research methodologies.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Breen said: \u201cThe initiative bridges the gap between theoretical research methods and their practical application in health and social care research. The Team Science Camp fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and the objective is to better address critical areas of need in healthcare and social care research.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-193\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.napier.ac.uk\/enuhealthsocial\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/114\/2024\/09\/Cathal-Breen.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3000\" height=\"2250\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Interdisciplinary teams formed at the Camp can go on to apply for an NHR Team Science Award of up to \u00a3100,000 per team, to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support pilot research<\/li>\n<li>Train and develop the interdisciplinary research team<\/li>\n<li>Establish new collaborations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The objective at September\u2019s Camp is to address critical areas of need in healthcare and social care research, either at the individual or the health systems level.<\/p>\n<p>The collaborative approach fostered at the Camp aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and enable methodologists to gain insights into real-world challenges faced by practitioners, while practitioners can benefit from the expertise of methodologists in developing and applying appropriate research methods and techniques.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Principles of Team Science<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Team Science is dependent on engagement with, and inclusion of people from, a variety of backgrounds, career stages and disciplines.
