Welcome to the LEGO and Games for STEM Education blog, written by Dr Claire Garden a University Senior Lecturer in Biology and colleagues, hosted by Edinburgh Napier University.

Purpose:

Join us to share your experience of using games and LEGO, including LEGO SERIOUS PLAY – like methods in Higher Education. We will share our ideas and debate issues and themes while having a bit of fun!

Themes:

Using LEGO / games in the University classroom to foster creativity and social connections, and deepen understanding. Evidence for this and materials to support it.

Exploring ideas and concepts in STEM/ Higher Education like ‘what is a good/bad teacher’, ‘what  does a supportive workplace look like’, ‘what is a learning community’,  ‘what does a scientist look like’? We will share our observations and reflections and place them in the UK Higher Education context.

Discussing relevant literature and how the findings might be applied to the UK Higher Education STEM classroom.

Highlight LEGO and games resources for use in Universities.
